We are a fast-growing startup looking for a Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer to join our growing data team. This is a hands-on, blended role covering all aspects of data, from building scalable data pipelines to creating insightful analysis and designing platform infrastructure.

Based in the heart of Manchester (Deansgate), we offer a hybrid working setup (4 days in the office, 1 remote), giving you the best of both worlds – a vibrant creative space with built-in flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for analytics, reporting, and operations.
  • Develop and optimize queries for ETL/ELT workflows.
  • Create and maintain data models that support the business.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, security, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to integrate data solutions into applications and business processes.

Core Skills & Experience

  • Experience in data engineering or analytics engineering, with hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines.
  • Proficient in Python skills for data transformation, automation, and scripting.
  • SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and optimization.
  • Familiarity with AWS services (e.g., S3, ECS, Lambda, Aurora, Cassandra, EC2 etc.)
  • Git experience for version control and collaborative development.
  • Familiarity with a data visualisation tool (any tool is fine: Tableau, Power BI, Superset, Looker, etc.).
  • Ability to work autonomously and drive data-driven decision-making in the business.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Databricks or experience with Spark/Pyspark for large-scale data processing.
  • Terraform or experience with infrastructure-as-code for AWS deployment.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD, pipeline automation, and version control.
  • Experience with TypeScript or .NET Core, particularly in a data or backend engineering context.
  • NoSQL Experience (Apache Cassandra).
  • Experience working in a startup or a fast-paced environment is desirable.
