Quantity Surveyor

north yorkshire, england, United Kingdom

Brierley J are currently working with a leading conservation and restoration contractor who turnover circa £10 million with around 80 direct employees, they have strong staff retention and maintain a culture of promoting from within. As an employee owned business, they are collectively working together to achieve success and every employee collectively shares in that success on an equal basis.

They are entrusted with the restoration and conservation work on the most prestigious historic buildings and structures in the UK. Recent projects include Seaton Delaval Hall, Alnwick Castle, Rievaulx Abbey and Hardwick Old Hall.

Traditionally with a larger workforce in the North East they are looking to expand their Yorkshire operations and market share. Due to their continued success, they are opening a new office in the summer of 2024 in Leeming Bar in North Yorkshire and are looking to add an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to the existing team.

They are currently working on a variety of projects for the National Trust and English Heritage, from ancient monuments, ruinous buildings through to churches and civic buildings.

Projects in the region tend to be around the £300- £400K and their ambition is to deliver multi- million pound projects in the next couple of years to mirror their current activity in the North East.

They are looking for a commercially minded individual who has a background in quantity surveying from the contractor side with some experience in estimating and is able to deliver a medley of the two. Experience within heritage and restoration would be advantageous but is not essential.

They are looking for someone who can work with the current Contracts Manager and Maintenance Manager and respond to incoming enquiries and pricing of tenders from initial enquiry, sending enquiries to subcontractors and managing submissions to clients.

Experience to deliver the QS function post contract award through to completion will be essential whilst engaging with the architects and clients dealing with heritage projects. Full support from the existing experienced management staff would be afforded, as teamwork is foundation of who they are as a business.

This role will suit someone who wants to be a key player within a small management team who wants to grow with the business, develop themselves within the role and become a member of the senior management team in the near future helping to develop the strategic vision for the Yorkshire region.

In return there would be a competitive salary ranging between £40,000 - £50,000, car/car allowance, a performance related bonus, possible hybrid working and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
