Our client, a top-tier firm, seeks a dedicated Construction Associate to join their esteemed Construction Insurance team. This team is an integral part of the firm's Insurance Group, known for representing a majority of Professional Indemnity insurers as well as many of the UK's largest contractors and construction consultancies.
The Construction Associate's Role
As a Construction Associate, you will be a solicitor that can handle a diverse range of claims against various construction professionals including engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, project managers, design and build contractors, and surveyors. Your primary focus will be on defending liability claims both pre and post litigation. Additionally, you will provide advice and representation on adjudication, disciplinary proceedings, arbitration, and risk management. You will also be called upon to advise insurers on policy coverage aspects of claims.
The successful Construction Associate will have the opportunity to collaborate with several partners and lawyers within a dynamic and expanding team. The role promises varied, challenging, and stimulating work, offering autonomy and the chance to work on cases involving a range of construction professions with values ranging from tens of thousands to multi-millions. You will also engage in business development and client initiatives.
The Construction Associate
To be considered for the Construction Associate role, you should possess:
Minimum of 3-4 years PQ
Experience in construction litigation (insurance experience is desirable but not essential
Strong knowledge of legal procedures
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Superior communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to manage shifting priorities and adapt plans accordingly
Initiative and problem-solving skills with the awareness of when to consult others
Capacity to multi-task and manage upwards
Team player ethos coupled with self-motivation
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Proactive approach with the drive to deliver results
High level of confidentiality and integrity
