The Credit Hire department is one of the highest earning departments across HF, led by three Partners who are experts in their field, overseeing a growing team of approximately 50 Credit Hire Specialists based in our Manchester and London offices.

Progression

Many people within Credit Hire have had the opportunity to be promoted into management and operational positions and/or develop as technical specialists.

We have several routes for progression, including Training Contracts, Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeships, and pathways to becoming a Team Leader or Manager. All our Trainee Solicitor routes are offered to internal employees only; we offered a total of 33 Trainee Solicitor pathways in 2023/2024, with 15% of those within our Credit Hire department!

What do I need?

Ideally, you will have 12 months' experience of credit hire file handling or have worked in the insurance industry. We will consider applications from law graduates who can demonstrate a particular interest in Credit Hire Litigation.

While experience and qualifications are desirable, we hire based on potential. If you are enthusiastic and want to learn and develop within an exciting and niche area of law, we can offer you the training to succeed.

You will need to bring an enthusiastic and self-motivated attitude with a desire to achieve and exceed targets, combined with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ability to demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving is desirable.

We would like to see a strong work ethic and a committed team player. We are a close-knit and stable team that likes to share ideas and experiences to achieve the best results for our clients.

What will you be doing?

You will predominantly be handling your own caseload of litigated delegated authority small and/or fast track claims (depending on experience). The team deals with some of the highest value and most technically complex credit hire cases, including appeals, credit hire fraud, and strategic litigation; this role represents a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to high-quality and challenging work. There will also be ample opportunities to help shape strategy and for contact with insurer clients.
