What will I be doing?

As aSales Manager for the Waldorf AstoriaEdinburgh The Caledonian, you will be responsible for dedicated MICE & Leisure segments within the UK and have the responsibility of supporting the Sales Team, taking responsibility for developing new business opportunities whilst driving strategies, activities & initiatives to retain and grow our business and:

Develop key new business opportunities to secure new business & partnerships.

Identify key customer opportunities and build a plan to target agencies and corporate clients.

Position the hotel to the market with a focus on business development.

Building a strong database for clients in the UK and Europe.

Maintain existing client base whilst growing our share of the business & identifying new customers.

Support conversion of direct enquiries with big emphasis on driving new leads.

Create & coordinate prospecting and sales blitzes.

Create & coordinate Bring Back Old Business blitzes.

Review all segments to identify which industries are currently producing.

Work closely with other luxury hotels in London and Dublin on joint Sales actions.

Develop a strong sales and marketing plan on how you will penetrate your markets through calls, virtual site inspections, Dinners etc.

Continually audit our business mix to ensure we have the right business segments to deliver exceptional results.

Ensure systems are in place to offer cross-sell opportunities to new & existing customers.

Attend and participate in sales initiatives, customer appointments & tradeshows as required.

Take responsibility for the activation of the hotel overall sales strategy.

Manage the relationship between on property sales & above property i.e. Hilton Worldwide Sales / Area Sales Office / SSSO.

Please note that within this role there is extensive and frequent travel required throughout the UK. There will also be an element of international travel as and when required to meet business needs.

There is potential to be based off property in a suitable part of the UK, providing additional flexibility.

What are we looking for?

Experience in the Leisure & / or MICE market and existing relationships with relevant agencies & corporate clients.

Excellent communication skills;presentations, written and public speaking.

Ability to cold call clients for prospecting purposes

Ability to direct collaboration among cross-functional teams including external resources.

Ability to analyse departmental financial data in order to make strategic and tactical decisions.

Demonstrates the highest standards of ethical behaviour and absolute discretion with sensitive information.

Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritise and implement actions required to achieve functional goals.

Proven understanding of clients business and category, including business plans, competitive environment & distribution channels and product financials.

Extensive understanding of local market and industry in order to make recommendations on how to achieve the budget.

Ability to recommend segmentation and targeting proposals and to assess marketing implications and aggressively manage to ensure profitability.

An excellent team player who leads by example to resolve conflicts, introduce change and ensure collaboration among others.

Budget development and management skills.

Ability to work independently and manage the work of others.

Strong problem solving skills including ability to address any issue in collaboration with others, identify and prevent potential problems and develop problem solving skills in others.

Ability to provide development and mentoring to others.

Ability to deliver performance feedback to subordinates to improve overall performance.

University degree at bachelor level or equivalent or experience in lieu thereof.

Significant work experience in roles including some people management experience.

Fluency in spoken and written English
